On the surface, Murray has everything: financial security, a lovely home and wife, a garden full of delights including many edible fruits and vegetables, memory of a successful career on the international arena.  Yet faced with all the choices and resources a man of his age has, he’s no longer able to find joy and happiness in life.  Nothing interests him; nothing can break his negative feelings of impending doom and his identity has been shattered.   His once familiar surroundings, while structured, become skewed and jagged, with rough edges almost closing in on his psyche.   Some facets of his life have become disconnected from his core and his memories of the past are increasingly unclear.   He’s losing touch with his family, his friends, his own self.  His gaze is one of a man who has lost his ‘joie de vivre’.
