Kai’s lineage represents the melding of the many cultures of their parentage.  Their pedigree is extensive yet their origin is from no specific place or time.   Kai’s very distant past, from where they descended, is the core of their soul, represented by soft flowing forms defining the space in and around their face.  This is contrasted by Kai’s vision of their future, rendered as lines cutting through and defining the planes of their face.   This is the visage which Kai shows to the world.  As a non-binary person, Kai resists social classifications, and forces the viewer to see them as they face themselves.
