Protest House

Protest House

2020

Oil on canvas, with chicken wire and collage materials

20 h” x 20 w” x 5” d

After the protests of George Floyd’s death in 2020, the White House erected an additional fence to further distance it from the protestors.  This piece reflects that event by combining an oil painting of the White House with a fence of chicken wire upon which are arranged protest banners and posters.  Supporting the bottom is a wooden curb, on which are placed dried flowers and candles.  The work is meant to be a documentary of the events of the summer of 2020, as they occurred in Washington, DC.
